On the way to USB, Wizzy’s avatar popped into my cabin again.

“What’s up, Wizzy?” I asked.

“I was thinking about the last question you asked of me. What other ideas did I have? I do have a few. Care to hear?”

My attention riveted on the floating avatar. If Wizzy took this much effort to talk to me, I wanted to hear it.

“Absolutely. What are you thinking?”

“Well, remember those plasma cannons we helped the Tye Resistance make and install?”

“Yes, they were great. What about them?”

“We have one.”

I sat up in my bed and almost fell over the edge. “What do you mean we have one? I thought they were all used up?”

“Not exactly. One of the prototypes never got installed, and I put it in the raw materials locker for use on something else. I never got around to using it as raw material.”

“And it works?’

“It will. There are just a few things I have to change based on what we learned in production.”

“And you are just telling me this now? Why?”

“Simple. Our previous orders wouldn’t let us use it. Now we can.”

He was right.

“That, Wizzy, is some of the best news I’ve heard recently. How long will it take to make it operational, and can you install it in another ship?”

“It can be operational in a day. I can’t install it. I don’t have the heavy-duty bots I had in the Tye system. But Ilton can supervise it with my help if you can get the physical labor.”

“I’ll find a way to make that happen. Thanks, Wizzy. That was valuable.”

Wizzy’s avatar didn’t disappear as I thought it would.

“Is there something else, Wizzy?”

“Yes. You seem to forget that we, I mean I, have production capabilities unlike the primitives on this planet.”

Wizzy was regaining his proud and productive self. That was good right now.

“Go on,” I said.

“As I did before for your friend, Zoron, I can manufacture any part in the Arkon inventory, or ours, for that matter. All I need is raw material for the fabricator. Who else could do that?”

“Good point,” I said with my mind working up another question. “Does the Lancer also have a fabricator?”

“Yes, it does, and you took forever to realize that. You are getting slow.”

I smiled at the jab. At least, I thought it was a jab. It must have been. Then I reminded myself to ask Jack about the Lancer’s fabricator.

“True. So, I’m assuming you can control the fabricator on the Lancer as well as ours, right?”

“Child’s play. All we need are the raw materials.”

“Wizzy, I am truly sorry. I failed again to recognize your awesomeness. I apologize.”

The AI’s avatar stood more erect, chest puffed out, with the old Wizzy’s look of superior everything washing over his artificial face.

“Thanks again, Wizzy,” I said, expecting him to vanish now that he had revealed what he wanted and got his equivalent of an ape juice box. But he didn’t.

“Have something more to say, Wizzy?”

“Yes.”

“What is it?”

“I want a title.”

“Wizzy, we talked about this in the Tye system. I told you Grand Exalted and All-Seeing God wouldn’t work.
